The Robert B. Stewart Performance Hall Moves One Giant Step Forward - Receiving Gifts Totaling $250,000 Recently we had the great pleasure of reporting that Robert B. Stewart ("Bob" to his friends - and there are a lot of those!) had given BCT a gift of $100,000 to help build our dream addition of a rehearsal space and black box theatre. Bob's incredible generosity will allow BCT to bring even more great entertainment to the Puget Sound region.
Bob Stewart's commitment and belief in BCT were rewarded by Mr. Stewart once again when he awarded the theatre a second gift of an additional $150,000 to make this project literally blast-off - bringing the total gift to $250,000! Yes - you read it right, that is a quarter of a million dollars!
To say the Board of Trustees was speechless is an understatement! Now it is our goal to match this gift through the donation of additional funds and services in order to complete and fully equip this addition to make the performance hall a reality. We have a great deal of work ahead to have this addition in place and working as quickly as possible, but Mr. Stewart's belief and enthusiasm for the value we add to the entire Puget Sound community and this project only doubles our efforts to create a performance hall we all can be proud of.
The RBSPH has been a dream for many at BCT for decades. The space will provide extra room for rehearsing, special shows and events and specifically, an area to build and expand BCT's Youth Theatre where those 18 and under will have the opportunity to learn about all facets of theatre, perform shows, and be schooled in acting as well as technical areas of theatre. To make this project a reality, your directors have appointed a project team consisting of Robert (Bob) Montgomery, Becky Lorber, Kevin Matthew and Eric Wise. This team has been given the charge to plan for best value in order to build and utilize a completely functional performance hall while spending available funds wisely. Our project team is already getting started by reviewing the specifications and brainstorming how to obtain best value architectural services for the design of the addition. We will all have a lot of work to do not only in building the addition, but also in spreading the word to potential donors who may choose to help us raise the needed additional funds or donate services. And don't be surprised - if you have expertise to help with the building addition - if you get a call saying the project needs you! Archived: 10.29.06. |
